We’re cultivating mushrooms using coffee

Here’s some blue oyster mushroom mycellium growing in coffee grinds in a sterilized mason jar. We’re doing this with small batches of grinds to later innoculate garden bed mulch and hay bales, the later of which we’re also conditioning over winter to use as potato beds in the spring. Using coffee to make spawn should add nitrogen as well as inoculate with chosen fungi, much in the same way grain spawn does. Hopefully this will attract fewer critters than grain does.

If you like what I’m doing here and want to make sure I can keep doing it, please consider supporting these projects financially. It sucks, but until capitalism isn’t a thing there are bills to pay.
